Siletz River Fishing

The lower Siletz River is a hotspot for salmon enthusiasts. Flowing alongside the refuge, the Siletz River boasts both spring and fall runs of Chinook Salmon, along with abundant Coho, Steelhead, and Cutthroat Trout. Anglers can enjoy bank fishing from the Alder Island Nature Trail, a scenic half-mile walk that meanders along the Siletz River and Millport Slough. With parking and fishing access available from sunrise to sunset, you’ll have plenty of time to reel in your catch. Just a heads-up—dogs aren’t allowed on the trail. While the fall Chinook run draws the biggest crowd, late spring brings a unique opportunity to catch a variety of surfperch as they enter the bay. Depending on the tides and weather, surfperch fishing can range from fair to excellent throughout the fall, making every trip a potential adventure.
